Forgotten 45s features songs from the "golden era" of 45s: 1957 (the first year 45s outsold 78s) until 1984 (basically the end of true Top 40 radio).
Forgotten 45s is primarily "pop" music, focusing on mainstream artists and one-hit wonders of the era. Also featured will be country crossovers, novelty tunes, easy listening, disco and lighter songs from rock bands.
Your host for Forgotten 45s is Ray Dinterman: "I have loved and collected music since the first 45 RPM I ever purchased at Two Guys Department store in Hagerstown. Playing DJ as a kid and then in real life, I found great fun in truly spinning records.
"The first song I ever played on "real" radio was Cherry Hill Park from Billy Joe Royal on WARK in Hagerstown. When I started Forgotten 45s on WTRI, it was the very first song I played.
"Over the years I've amassed more than 2,000 45s, LPs, and CDs; so each week is a new adventure and exciting for me to share my collection with you. And requests are always welcome! Send me an email and I'll plow through my collection to get it on the air."
